Swagelok's Rebuilding Kits Help You Adjust or Replace Valve Packing (PDF Instructions, Video)

Learn how to use Swagelok’s rebuilding kits for manually actuated and remotely actuated valves. Each kit contains detailed instructions on how to adjust or replace the packing or rebuild the valve if needed, and this video demonstrates the specifics of how it is done.

If you're handling Swagelok's manually operated valves and need to fine-tune the stem packing or contemplate a full rebuild, Swagelok has got you covered. Our rebuild kits are handy for all manually operated valves and a good number of remotely operated ones too. Each includes detailed instructions that walk you through adjusting or replacing the packing, or doing a total valve overhaul if needed:

The service procedure varies by valve type. Typically, adjusting the packing involves simply tightening the packing nut at the top of the valve. This video shows how:

The service method varies with each valve. For most, a simple twist of the packing nut at the top tightens the packing. If you're looking to do a complete rebuild, you'll want to check whether removing the top nut is enough to get inside the valve.

For the heavy-duty severe service valves, you might have to detach the upper assembly from the valve body. And for those metering valves that use O-rings rather than packing, remember they'll need some attention after being in service for extended periods.
