Master Small-Bore Tubing Systems: New Swagelok Training

With small bore tubing systems at chem and refining facilities, what is the best way to install tube fittings, then inspect and maintain them? What about selecting tubing, preparing it, bending it, installing it, and inspecting it? A new seminar offers answers, training, and practice. Classes are forming now.

I'm excited to introduce our new Swagelok® Tubing System Training Program, Chemical and Refining, a two-day workshop designed for professionals in the chemical and refining industries. Launched in January 2024, this program is tailored to equip you with the essential knowledge and skills needed for the proper installation, inspection, and maintenance of small-bore tubing systems.

This program is built to be engaging. We mix in person demonstrations and hands-on exercises (the "how") with theoretical explanation (the "why"). We'll delve into common industry challenges such as leaks, improper tube preparation, and incorrect installation practices, providing practical solutions for each. By the end of the program, you'll receive a Swagelok Certificate of Completion and valuable course materials.

I'm one of five individuals in North America qualified to teach this program, a certification I earned in September 2023. My role as Swagelok Edmonton’s Services and Training Manager and as a Swagelok Field Advisor allows me to bring real-world experience to sessions, ensuring you get top-notch instruction.

Addressing a root cause of project overruns

Our program addresses a common cause of project overruns in this industry: leaks and improper installations. Efficient, leak-free operations require appropriate use of tubing instead of traditional piping systems, so proficiency in tube bending is important. By equipping professionals with practical skills and regulatory knowledge, we empower them to navigate challenges effectively and maintain compliance in their day-to-day operations.

Designed for installers, engineers, designers, and quality control/quality assurance inspectors, and other professionals involved in tubing systems within midstream and downstream chemical and refining applications, our training aims to equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary for success in your role. Topics covered include tube selection, preparation, fitting installation, leakage considerations, as well as bending methods, inspection techniques, and troubleshooting.

Lecture-lab format ensures hands-on practice

Our program strikes a balance between theoretical insights and hands-on practice. When you successfully complete both practical and theoretical assessments, you will receive a Swagelok Certificate of Completion. To support your ongoing success and application of sharpened skills in the field, we provide you with your own Swagelok Tube Fitter’s Installer’s Guide, Hand Tube Bender Manual, and Gap Inspection Gauge.
